Over 400 entries for Notts Police rainbow picture competition

Over 400 people have drawn pictures of rainbows for a competition run by Nottinghamshire Police.

Rainbows have become a symbol of hope and solidarity during the Coronavirus crisis, with many people getting creative and displaying them in the windows of their houses.

PC Keith Parkes, star of Channel 5’s Bodycam Squad, encouraged people to submit their rainbows to Nottinghamshire Police’s Facebook page as a way to keep children entertained and encourage people to follow the Government’s Stay at home guidance.

The winning entry, which was chosen by PC Parkes, was a joint effort from Aleah, aged 5, Esmai, aged 4, and Corben, aged 3.

PC Parkes said: “This was a bit of fun for the community but ultimately there’s a serious message, that we all have a part to play during this crisis.

“I got involved with doing my own rainbow for Broxtowe Police Station because I wanted to keep everybody’s spirits up, while also showing that we’re all in this together.”

“I hope being able to take part gave people a boost and something to do while they’re stuck at home. Thanks to everyone who sent in their rainbows. I was really impressed with the entries – they put my effort to shame!”
