Paint thrown over Nottingham property and weapon recovered after disturbance

A door was damaged and a knife was recovered after police were called to reports of an argument.

Officers were called to a property just off Rowan Avenue, Stapleford, after a dispute reportedly broke out.

It is alleged that a woman had been banging on windows and the door of a property before a confrontation led to another woman being punched.

Paint is also reported to have been thrown against the property, covering the doors and the walls.

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, public order offences, assault and cannabis.

She has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A knife was also recovered by police a short time after the incident, at around 7.20pm on Monday (28 February 2022), and the woman was further arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

Sergeant Robert Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The behaviour reported is something which absolutely cannot be tolerated. It left those involved very shaken and with potentially really expensive damage.

“Officers also quickly seized a knife after finding it shortly after the incident This discovery is being taken very seriously as offices continue their investigation. Weapons such as this have the potential to cause serious harm, so we are committed to doing everything we can to take these off the streets.

“We would, however, reassure the public that we believe this is an isolated incident where those involved are thought to know each other, and that there is no wider risk to the public.

“A woman was brought into custody to be questioned and has since been bailed as our enquiries continue.”
