Nottinghamshire Police has put a cordon in place as a precaution following a report of a suspicious package.

Officers were called just after 10.20am today (24 February) to Manvers Court in Manvers Street, Sneinton.

The army’s bomb disposal unit has been called to the location, in line with the protocol on suspicious packages.

Chief Inspector Chris Sullivan, who is overseeing the evacuation, said: “I understand that incidents like this cause concern in the community, but I would like to reassure people that we are putting safety first. We are taking every precaution until we can be completely sure of the nature of the package which has been reported to us.

“I would ask local people to follow the advice of officers in the area and speak to them if they have any concerns.”
