A sign on the door reads: “Say hello, wave goodbye. Paul Smith Byard Lane is closing in August 2017. Thank you for your support over the years.”

Since Byard Lane opened, 17 other stores have been opened in England.

The brand has a presence in 66 countries.

A spokesperson for the shop said: “It’s with great sadness that Paul Smith announces the closure of his Byard Lane shop in Nottingham.

“Having opened his first ever shop on Byard Lane in 1970, Paul has maintained close-ties with his hometown adding a second shop in the city with Willoughby House opening in 2005.
