British Transport Police confirmed the news today.
A spokesperson said:
“British Transport Police officers were called to Long Eaton railway station at 7.13pm yesterday 15 April, 2021 – following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.’
East Midlands Railways reported the incident at 7:21 pm on 15 April:
‘We are sad to report that unfortunately a person has been hit by a train between Derby & East Midlands Parkway.’
