The ine closed with between Loughborough and Leicester affecting Nottingham – London services.
East Midlands Railway said at 11 am on Monday 1 December:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.
‘We expect this disruption until the end of the day.’
‘This has occurred between Loughborough and Leicester and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield and Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby routes.
‘Emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. They are expected to arrive at 11:10 am.’
‘Trains running between Loughborough and Leicester can not run in either direction.
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next two hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 12:45.’
