The incident happened on the Nottingham – Mansfield route.
East Midlands Railways said at 6:22 am on Monday 8 May:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Mansfield and Nottingham was disrupting our trains on the Worksop / Mansfield / Nottingham route.
‘Emergency services on site have managed the situation and the line has now reopened.

An update at 7:10 announced: ‘Trains can run through the area as normal.’
