East Midlands Railways reported the news this evening.
East Midlands Railways said at 7:21 pm:
‘We are sad to report that unfortunately a person has been hit by a train between Derby & East Midlands Parkway.
‘This is affecting our trains on our Intercity & Matlock/ Derby/ Newark routes as no trains can run through this area.’
What has happened?
A person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between East Midlands Parkway and Derby is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/ Sheffield and Matlock/ Derby/ Newark routes.
At present emergency services and Network Rail have teams on site managing the incident.
How does this affect my train?
Trains running through the area in the both directions are currently unable to run between East Midlands Parkway and Derby.
Trains are either being diverted around this area which will add approximately 30 minutes on to your journey or they are being cancelled.
There is also significant congestion in this area due to the line closure so significant delays are expected.
Please check your journey before you travel.
At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 2 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again, we expect this to be at approximately 23:00.
