The incident happened on Monday 4 March near the Wilkinson Street tram stop.
The tram service was suspended from about 8 am today after the incident.
Nottinghamshire Police closed Wilkinson Street from around 9:40 am until midday to allow investigations to take place.
All trams services are now running with delays and the road has reopened.
