Thousands of activists gathered in Old Market Square today for a global climate crisis protest.
The movement is inspired by Swedish schoolgirl and climate activist Greta Thunberg.
The protest gathered to listen to speakers including Extinction Rebellion.
Thunberg organised the Fridays for Future movement which evolved into the YouthStrike4Climate movement.
The eco-activists call upon politicians to take climate change seriously, although these demonstrations are for all ages and are thought to draw the biggest crowds yet.
The Global Climate Strike movement plans to “disrupt business” all over the world to raise awareness of the issue.
Students are striking from schools to support the action.
This morning as part of the protests cyclist activists slowed traffic in Nottingham city centre during rush hour.
