Despite one very rainy day and one very sunny one, this year’s Lady Bay Open Gardens was a huge success.
Over 1,100 adults visited plus children with proceeds donated to the Lady Bay Community Fund. In addition, garden hosts also over £1,300 for their chosen charities.
Lady Bay Open Gardens has been for many years a highlight of the summer, and with the community pulling together, we were able to successfully run it again after a gap of three years.
The volunteer committee met after the weekend for a post-event meeting, and all felt the event was a resounding success.
Visitors enjoyed meeting and chatting to gardeners over the two days, they also said that the variety of different spaces on show and the warm welcome made all the difference. The refreshments and entertainment were also enjoyed by all.
We would like to thank this year’s sponsor Rex Gooding, Moores Nurseries and Garden Centre and John A Stephens for their support and to Nottinghamshire County Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council for their contributions towards printing costs and of course to all the homeowners who are taking part this year.
The committee have started to plan for the 2024 event. The first task was to agree a date for 2024 which will be 22/23 June 2024. Please save the date.
Some of the current committee members are standing down, and if you ever thought of helping/ taking part in planning the event please get in touch. The organising committee are holding their next meeting at the Lady Bay pub on Thursday 7 September at 7pm.
