Rushcliffe Country Park’s play area is still open whilst refurbishment works are almost complete, welcoming £175,000 of investment to local facilities from Rushcliffe Borough Council.
A new Kanope Tower multi-play unit featuring 14 different play elements and a new wooden trail is currently being installed at the Ruddington country park.
This will offer panoramic views of the park and increase play opportunities with a new pendulum pod swing and a fully inclusive wheelchair see-saw.
Existing equipment has been refurbished and improved with the full scheme adding 28 new play elements and 47 additional user activities.
Works are being completed by Bradmore based playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd who have designed the updated features.
It’s the latest investment in a series of improvements RBC is implementing following user surveys, consultations, and feedback from residents.
Recent investments at the park include a new café and outdoor shelter, visitor centre, bookable meeting room, electric vehicle charging points, pathway restoration work, refurbished toilets, and shade sails.
The nearby skatepark and BMX track at the site has also seen £200,000 refurbishments in recent years.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “We’re pleased refurbishment of the play area is well underway which is seeing more inclusive equipment introduced, suitable for a wider age range as well as natural play elements such as a wooden nature trail.
“Community facilities such as these are so important for local families and young people, so we are delighted to be able to invest and update them, not least at one of our most popular parks.
“Our excellent facilities also include a series of new additions to the park including the popular café Coffee and Cake by the Lake, visitor centre, bookable meeting venue, changing places toilets, outdoor shelter, refurbished outdoor toilets and shade sails installed last year.
“We’ve also seen £45,000 capital investment in path repairs to improve the visitor experience and accessibility in the park.
“These upgrades are part of our commitment to invest in the Country Park, which attracts thousands of visitors every year, providing high quality open spaces to promote health, wellbeing and recreation.”
