The incident is ongoing today Wednesday 8 March as Severn Trent try to fix the issue.
Third-party contractors caused damage to water mains in Beeston.
A spokesperson for ST Water said at 7:30 am today:
‘As promised, we’d like to provide you with an update on the situation and let you know our engineers continue to work hard to complete the repairs on High Road in Beeston.
‘However, the repairs are proving to be more complex than we were expecting.
‘As previously mentioned, our customer’s supplies remain unaffected.
‘We’ll continue to monitor this as we’re passionate about doing all we can to minimise any disruption to our customer’s supply.
‘Our tankers are still out and about during this time, this is nothing to worry about they’ll be supporting us whilst we work by pumping extra water around the network of pipes.
‘To ensure as many customers as possible remain on supply and we are currently moving water around our network. This may cause lower pressure than normal. However, this is nothing to worry about.’
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Stepleford station said:
‘You will all know and understand the incident which happened in Chilwell earlier today.
‘This update is to thank the community.
‘Local people who came together to help each other.
‘The young people who left the college to help brush away flood water, neighbours who helped each other, the church people who opened their doors, cooked food made drinks, kept us and the community warm, and provided a shoulder for some to cry on.
‘The local businesses who stepped in with food, drinks, shelter and support.’
