West Bridgford nutrition coach Susan Hart hosts a book-signing event for well-known YiouTubers BOSH!
Last night at Waterstones on Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham, people came in their numbers to meet the most well known vegan cooks and Youtubers – BOSH!
And I had the pleasure of hosting the event. I’d been given an advance copy of the book to do my research, I’d sussed my questions, I was ready.
As more and more people clambered through the door of the Sillitoe Room it became clear that we needed extra chairs. There was a huge buzz of anticipation around the room and a big round of applauce when the three of us walked in. I felt a mixture of nervousness and excitement
After introductions I got stuck in with the first question about their new book “How to live vegan” and their inspiration behind it.
Henry explained that since they created BOSH! in 2016 they’ve written two cookbooks (BOSH! – simple recipes and Bish, bash BOSH!), but the question they were often asked was why they were vegan.
Their new book gives that answer and many more. He goes on to explain that “its a complete guide to veganism. We deal with all aspects of “why” and delve into “how”. We’ve worked extremely hard on this book and we know it’s going to help lots of people make their transition to a plant based lifestyle a lot easier.”
Ian used to live and work in Nottingham and was amazed at the change in the city, especially when it came to eating out and vegan options.
I asked him the question every vegan has been asked, and it’s covered in the book “where do you get your protein from?” The answer was simply from plants; peas in particular are high in protein.
I also added that beans, both dried and tinned are a really inexpensive source of low cholesterol, high fibre protein.
Both the boys were incredibly generous and genuine and it was a pleasure being on the same stage.
They completely engaged with the ever-growing audience especially when it came to taking their questions at the end.
To give everyone a chance to participate they jotted down their question on post-it notes so we could pick a handful.
They ranged from what’s the best way to be vegan on a budget, where can you buy ethical clothing and toiletries, to what’s next for BOSH! What’s next is a new cookbook due at the end of December all about healthy eating to support the body
We only managed to get through a fraction of the questions but Henry and Ian agreed to answer the rest via social media.
After another huge round of applause the evening finished with the book signing. A lengthy queue snaked around the room but everyone waited patiently for their chance to have a chat and photo with BOSH!
Ian and Henry are about half way through their book tour, travelling the length and breath of the country in their electric car yet they seem fresh, relaxed and energised. Maybe it has soemthing to do with their diet? Just saying!
