Pierrepont Gamston Primary School celebrates 25 years

This year marks a very special milestone for Pierrepont Gamston Primary School as they celebrate their 25th birthday.

Throughout the year, a number of exciting events and activities are planned to commemorate this achievement, bringing together pupils, staff, families and members of the wider community to reflect on the school’s journey and look ahead to its future.

The celebrations began on Friday 25th September with a wonderful whole-school street party. Children, staff and invited guests enjoyed an afternoon of games, snacks and shared memories as they reflected on how the school has evolved over the past quarter of a century.

A particular highlight of the event was welcoming three of the school’s headteachers together. Mr Heard, the school’s first headteacher, joined Mr Sharpe and current headteacher Mrs Bills to celebrate the occasion. Their presence provided a unique opportunity to share stories from different chapters of the school’s history and to reflect on the many changes, achievements and developments that have shaped Pierrepont Gamston Primary School over the last 25 years.

The celebrations continued on the Sunday with a special thanksgiving service organised by Connect Gamston, part of St Luke’s Church, which meets in the school hall each Sunday afternoon. The service brought together members of the school and local community and included contributions from both current and former pupils. They shared their memories of their time at the school, as well as their hopes for its future, prompting everyone to think about what the next 25 years might bring.

As pupils looked to the future, their imaginations ran wild with possibilities. One question sparked plenty of discussion and laughter: “Will we all be travelling to school on hoverboards by then?”

To create lasting reminders of this significant anniversary, a commemorative tree will be planted later in the year. Pupils will also work together to produce a special piece of artwork that will remain in school for years to come, serving as a lasting legacy of the school’s 25th birthday celebrations.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we are incredibly proud of the generations of children, families, governors and staff who have been part of the Pierrepont Gamston story. We look forward to creating many more happy memories together over the next 25 years.
