A new McDonald’s at Giltbrook Retail Park will be a 24-hour restaurant if a licensing application is approved by Broxtowe Borough Council.
The new branch was given the go-ahead by planners in December 2024, after plans were submitted in August of the same year.
Work began on the site, which is to be a brand new building next to Pizza Express and Nando’s, in July and is expected to be completed by November.
An official opening date has not yet been given for the restaurant.
Giltbrook Retail Park, home to major stores including IKEA, is owned by property firm British Land, which said the opening of the McDonald’s would create dozens of jobs and provide millions in economic benefits to the area.
The retail park’s car park is being modified to make room for the new establishment, with 30 parking spaces being lost as a result.
The application for a 24-hour licence for the “provision of late-night refreshment” was only submitted on September 17.
It would allow the branch to open until 5am.
Around 40% of McDonald’s’ UK sites operate on a 24-hour basis.
Those who have representations to make in favour or against the application can write to Broxtowe Borough Council before October 15 to have their submissions heard.
