Plans for new retail park in West Bridgford could include Co-op, gym, vet and prestige fish restaurant

The site on Loughborough Road is the former Sandicliffe Motors premises


Plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council have been approved.

Plans are for a change of use from car sales showroom with the retail sale of motor vehicles including a servicing and maintenance area to a flexible A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 or D1 and B1 Use Classes to create 6 ground floor units and 1 first floor unit, creation of new car parking spaces, removal of existing canopy and external alterations including refurbishment of existing building. | Sandicliffe Motor Group 5 – 27 Loughborough Road West Bridgford Nottinghamshire NG2 7LJ

In 2017 a 3-year temporary permission was granted for the change of use of the site to a public car park comprising of 105 spaces.

In 2018 an application was submitted for a change of use of an area to the south of the application site to a hand car wash.

In 2018 an application was also submitted for the northern area of the site for the redevelopment of site to form 54 retirement living apartments, together with access, communal facilities, car parking and landscaping (18/02521/FUL). The current proposal takes into account the proposed layout and form of the apartments.

The scheme as currently designed meets the requirements of the intended end users. The current identified likely end users are as follows:
– Co-operative food store
– High quality gym operator
– Local prestige fish restaurant operator
– Sandwich bar
– Veterinary clinic

The proposed retail units, gym and veterinary clinic will feature at ground floor with B1 offices located on the first floor of the existing building. The existing building will be subdivided into 6 ground floor units and 1 unit on the first floor to impart flexibility, and lettable variety of unit sizes, and to meet specific end user operational requirements.

Up to 62 car parking spaces including disabled and child and parent parking will be provided. Cycle parking for staff and customers will also be provided on the site.
