Plans for rooftop bar at The Island Quarter in Nottingham

Nottingham’s The Island Quarter has submitted plans to Nottingham City Council for a rooftop bar.

If approved, the rooftop bar will offer panoramic views across the city skyline, complemented by a premium menu. The venue will have space for up to 85 seated guests.

Developed by Conygar, the planning application forms part of the wider vision for The Island Quarter, one of the most significant regeneration projects in the UK.

Chris Ware, property director at Conygar, the developer behind The Island Quarter, said: “With significant interest in the unique offering that Cleaver & Wake holds in the city, the rooftop bar will not only enhance the hospitality offering but also create a new focal point for socialising in Nottingham. It will be one of the biggest rooftop bars in the city once complete – a testament to the ambition we have for this site.”

The plans feature a dedicated bar with a combination of lounge-style seating and higher stool seating, with views across the city under a backdrop of atmospheric festoon lighting. A pergola also forms part of the plans for the rooftop, which will be managed by Rhubarb – the operator of the site.

Chris Ware, property director at Conygar, said: “Since launching Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake in 2022, we have been welcomed to the Nottingham hospitality scene with an incredible reception, which has allowed us to continue to grow and develop. It’s a natural progression for us to expand our offering, and if approved, the rooftop bar will enable just that.

“I hope these plans get the green light and that we can soon be working with the team to continue bringing our vision for the wider Island Quarter to life.”
