Plumtree Ladies take positives from defeat

After a confusing maze of single track roads, Plumtree ladies found their way last Sunday morning to Milford Hall for their second league match of the season.

Looking to rectify the mistakes from the last match’s narrow loss to Four Oaks Saints CC Plumtree won the toss and took to the field in the glorious sunshine.

One of Plumtree’s two debutantes in this match, Fran Moore, opened the bowling but Milford started strongly putting on 63 before the fall of their first wickets. Helen Cox came on and took two wickets in two overs thanks to excellent catches from Fran and Sue Moore.

The second debutante, Dani Moore, took the wicket of Milford’s captain before their number four began to hit out to take the score up to 157 before chopping a ball onto her own stumps. Milford finished on 176-5 off their 40 overs.

Plumtree set out positively to chase down the total and started well before losing 3 wickets for 20 runs. Gabi Brown pushed on and reached her 50 in the 28th over before falling with the score at 96-4. A couple of quick cameos from Dani and Sue Moore helped push the score up to 129, but unfortunately Plumtree lost their last 2 wickets in quick succession and were bowled out for 132.

It was a valiant effort by the ladies and positives can be taken from the match and we hope to work hard on our weaknesses in preparation for our next fixture on the 21st May at home to Wolverhampton.
