Police and bailiffs tackle illegal fishing in Cotgrave

Police officers were accompanied by Voluntary Water Bailiffs in response to recent reports of illegal fishing at Cotgrave Fishing Lake.

Police in Rushcliffee said:

‘This week local beat manager PC Kemish and PCSO Evans from Rushcliffe South Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting proactive patrols with Voluntary Bailiffs, Simon and Paul, in response to recent reports of illegal fishing at Cotgrave Fishing Lake, within the country park.

‘Op Traverse tackles illegal fishing and waterside ASB along lakes, rivers and waterways with officers engaging with a number of members of the public and further patrols set for the coming weeks.

‘Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant especially as we move into the warmer spring weather where traditionally more incidents of illegal fishing are reported.’
