Police appeal after motorcyclist seriously injured in M1 collision

Police officers are appealing for information following a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the M1 northbound which happened this afternoon (Saturday).

Police were called at 1.23pm to the collision near junction 21A.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where he currently remains.

The driver of the car, a woman, has been taken to hospital. She is not reported to have suffered serious injuries.

Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

Detective Constable Hal Kinsey, from Leicestershire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries and are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact with us.

“There was heavy traffic on the M1 at the time of the incident. Anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles travelling beforehand is asked to get in touch with us if you have not already done so.

Similarly, if you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, please also check this and make contact.”
