Detectives investigating a shooting in Top Valley have released more details on the incident after two men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds last night.
Armed police were deployed to Hucknall Road just before midnight on Tuesday 16 June to secure the area as Nottinghamshire Police launched an investigation into the incident.
Police cordons remain in place in several locations, including the footpath of Moor Bridge at its junction with Hucknall Lane as well as Hucknall Road at its junction with Bestwood Road and Hucknall Lane.
The victims, a man in his twenties and another in his 30s, are in hospital being treated for single gunshot wounds to their legs. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are at a very early stage in our investigation and we are working hard to understand the circumstances around this serious incident.
“We believe that the incident took place in Hucknall Road just before midnight and are exploring the idea that it may have taken place inside a car, however, we are calling for the public to help us piece together what happened.
“This is being investigated as a targeted attack and those involved are believed to be known to one another. I want to reassure the public that we are doing everything in our power to find those responsible.
“A forensics team is in the area investigating a trail of blood linked to the shooting and we will be closing Moor Bridge at the junction with Hucknall Lane in Bulwell while we investigate and follow the trail.
“If you have any information, witnessed something or have dashcam footage that could aid us in our investigation, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 912 of 16 June 2020 as soon as possible.”

“Firearms offences are totally unacceptable and have no place in our community.
“If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak with one of our officers in the area or give Nottinghamshire Police a call on 101. We are committed to protecting the safety of our communities and will be doing everything we can to make sure the area is secured and safe for the public.
