Police appeal to trace dangerous driver

Police investigating an incident of dangerous driving are appealing for public help to identify the driver.

Officers were talking with a member of the public in High Hoe Road, Worksop, when a black Land Rover Freelander passed them at high speed – overtaking another vehicle and almost causing a serious collision.

The vehicle was found moments later in Kingston Road, shortly after 12.20am on Sunday October 3.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, drink-driving, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and driving without insurance.

He was further arrested for failing to provide a sample of breath and later released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Officers are appealing for help to confirm who was driving the vehicle.

PC Rebecca Donnison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an appalling display of driving that could have caused a very serious collision. One of our officers was almost hit by the vehicle and another road user was forced to take avoiding action.

“Officers immediately went after the vehicle  and arrested a suspect shortly afterwards, but we need some further information to complete our investigation and would like to speak with anyone who may have seen this car – and who was driving it – in the night in question.

“We are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have seen this vehicle being driven dangerously and retained dashcam footage of it.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 38 of 3 October 2021.
