Police arrest man spotted climbing building in Nottingham

Police interrupted a suspected burglar after a man was spotted climbing a building.

Officers were called to Raleigh Street, Radford, on Thursday evening when reports came in that a man had gained access to a fourth-floor balcony and was attempting to enter the building.

A member of the public detained the suspect on the balcony floor before officers arrived at the scene.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Sergeant Rebecca Thomas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“While we would never encourage the public to put themselves at risk, I would like to praise the man who aided officers in detaining the suspect.

“Burglary is a distressing and invasive crime that can cause a great deal of fear in communities. For that reason we take it very seriously and investigate every occurrence thoroughly.”
