Police arrest three following suspected drug dealing near Castle Gate

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences after police found crack cocaine, mamba and a knife in Nottingham city centre.

Plain-clothes officers were on patrol near the junction of Castle Gate and Lister Gate when they observed a group gathered in the doorway of an empty shop. Officers reported seeing a number of brief interactions, including one woman receiving an item and discarding a bank note.

Uniformed officers were alerted and attended the scene, where three people were arrested. Searches led to the recovery of quantities of crack cocaine, mamba and a knife.

Two men aged 29 and 44 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of a knife blade in a public place. A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

The 29-year-old man has been recalled to prison after being arrested while on licence. The other two suspects have been released on bail with conditions while enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Kylie Davies said officers had been responding to concerns about drug dealing in unused shop doorways and that patrols would continue in the city centre.
