The snake was spotted at Colwick Country Park.
Police said:
‘Our officers are used to dealing with the odd slippery customer with no leg to stand on, but they received a rather unusual call today…
‘They were called into action after a report a six-foot long snake was spotted slithering along a footpath in Colwick Country Park
‘The snake, believed to be a non-venomous Boa Imperator, was first encountered shortly before 4pm yesterday (18 July).
Fear not, a local reptile centre, which was alerted to the surprise discovery, attended and helped us arresssssst the snake.’
