A man threw a knife in a car before running from police officers.
Police were called to Beechdale Road, Beechdale, at 3.45am today following reports of a man brandishing a large knife outside a house.
Officers were quickly on the scene and told the suspect to stay still.
The man refused and was seen throwing the weapon into a VW Golf before running off on foot.
A police officer chased him and moments later the suspect was in handcuffs having been arrested onsuspicion of possession of a bladed article.
The owner of the VW Golf was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
Inspector David Mather, of Nottinghamshire Police’s operational support team, said: “We received a call reporting a man waving a large knife about and making threats.
“Two of our officers approached the man in an unmarked vehicle.
“Not realising they were police officers, the suspect was initially aggressive towards them before running off and discarding the weapon.
“The suspect was detained and arrested following a short foot chase and a large hunting knife
subsequently recovered from a nearby parked vehicle.
“Two men were arrested for possessing a bladed article and remain in custody.”
