Police were called to the A453 near Clifton after reports were received.
Police attended the incident which happened at 5:20 am on Thursday 4 May.
Detective Sergeant Al Prentice from Nottinghamshire Police said:
“This tragic incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
“Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends and this difficult time.”
