Specialist police officers seized a knife after a rapid response to reports a man was outside a pub with a blade.
Officers from the knife crime team were called to the venue in Upper Parliament Street at 10.20pm on Saturday (13 September) and located a suspect who was detained.
A lock knife was recovered from the pavement nearby and will be destroyed.
Luke Pritchett, aged 33, of Farnborough Road, Nottingham, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3 October 2025.
He also faces charges of assault, threatening behaviour and driving without due care and attention in relation to an earlier incident on 16 March 2025 in Melton Road, Edwalton.
Police Constable Daniel Cresswell, of the knife crime team, said:
“Although much of our work as a team involves proactive policing while on patrol, we are also called out to incidents where knives have been observed.
“In this instance we were able to quickly locate and arrest a suspect who will now appear before magistrates charged with the very serious offence of knife possession in public.
“We are always grateful to members of the public for being vigilant and observant around knife crime and reporting suspected weapons carriers to us.”
