Police close road near QMC bridge in concern for person’s safety

Road closures are in place around QMC hospital as part of an ongoing incident.
Emergency services are currently in attendance at the Ningbo Friendship Bridge in Clifton Boulevard.

This is in response to concerns being raised over a person’s safety, at approximately 11.15am today (29 September).

Road closures have been put in place on Clifton Boulevard, between Dunkirk Island and QMC Island.

Access has also been restricted to the ring road from Priory Island, as well as from Derby Road and Abbey Street.

Road users are advised to avoid Clifton Boulevard and consider alternative routes for the time being.

Update: At 1:42 pm police advised the road will reopen and the incident was safely resolved.

AA Roadwatch:

‘Road blocked and queueing traffic due to police incident on A52 Clifton Boulevard Northbound at Middleton Boulevard. Southbound has reopened to traffic. Northbound remains blocked.’
