Police discover 20 wraps of cocaine in driver’s underwear

A man was caught by officers with suspected cocaine down his trousers after attempting to hide from a marked police car.

Police were out on patrol on Monday (28 April) at 10am, when they spotted a driver about to leave a car parking space suddenly back up due to their arrival.

After approaching the car on Alfreton Road, Hyson Green, they conducted a search of the driver and soon found around 20 wraps of the drug hidden in his underwear.

A further search of the car also uncovered a suspected wrap of heroin, four mobile phones and wads of cash.

The 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, and on suspicion of drug-driving. He has since been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

PC James Hooper, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Driving whilst under the influence of drugs poses a massive safety risk to the driver and all of those around them, effecting reaction time, judgement, coordination and the perception of risk.”

“If anyone suspects that someone could be under the influence of drugs or involved in the supply of them, we’d ask that they call the police on 101 and report them, or get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
