A robbery suspect was chased down and detained by a police dog shortly after a motorcycle was reported stolen.
Officers were called to Cranwell Road, Strelley, at 1.15pm on Saturday after reports that two masked suspects had stolen a delivery driver’s moped.
Three suspects were spotted in a nearby wooded area and immediately ran when they were challenged by an authorised firearms officer (AFO) and police dog handler.
PD Max was immediately deployed and detained one of the suspects a short distance away.
Another suspect was chased down by the other officer and detained.
Two boys, aged 17 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft and have since been release on conditional bail.
The stolen moped, along with another suspected stolen bike, were recovered by officers.
Inspector Tim Ringer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“PD Max is one of our largest and quickest dogs and certainly not an animal you’d want chasing after you.
“On this occasion he and his handler did exactly what they were trained to do and made short work of detaining a fleeing suspect who may otherwise have got away.
“Thanks to a great team effort, we were able to make twin arrests and also recover two suspected stolen bikes.”
