A suspect was found hiding on the roof of a garden shed by a police dog.
PD Rooster and his handler were called in after two people were seen fleeing from a taxi in Basford on Tuesday afternoon.
The vehicle had been spotted on Stockhill Lane by officers before a quantity of drugs and a mobile phone were thrown from one of its windows.
After the car pulled over nearby, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.
Rooster was then deployed to search the area and led his handler through a series of properties before locating a suspect on top of a garden shed.
A 25-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, and investigations are ongoing.
PD Rooster, a two-year-old German Shepherd, was licensed as a police dog in June and recently played a part in detaining one of two suspects in a car that failed to stop.
This was his first successful track of a suspect.
Sergeant Nicholas Dachtler said: “This was a great result for Rooster and his handler, who travelled a significant distance to find a suspect who was well hidden.
“Tracking suspects is a key part of our general-purpose training, and it is great to see Rooster putting those skills into action.
“Had it not been for their presence, this man would almost certainly have gone undetected.”
