Police dog tracks down suspect after shed break-in reports

A highly skilled police dog and handler tracked down and arrested a suspect after reports of an attempted shed break-in.

Dog units combed the area after receiving reports of an attempted shed break-in in High Street, Stanton Hill, Sutton-in-Ashfield, during the early hours of Sunday (20 August 2023).

Shortly after 4.30am, their persistence paid off after Police Dog Jax began tracking and located a suspect in Cottage Close.

A 37-year-old man from Sutton-in-Ashfield has since been charged with attempted burglary in connection with the alleged incident.

He is also charged with theft from a motor vehicle in relation to reports of tools stolen from a car in Cottage Close.

Willetts appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Monday (21 August 2023).

He was released on conditional bail and is next due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 20 November 2023.
