Hundreds of chocolate eggs have been donated by Nottinghamshire Police in time for this weekend’s Easter celebrations.
Officers and police staff have been contributing to the collection of chocolates for the last few months in a bid to help put smiles on the faces of disadvantaged children.
Good News Family Care Homes, based in Buxton, offers a safe haven for women and children affected by debilitating circumstances, such as domestic abuse and homelessness.
After gathering more than 300 chocolate eggs via donations made from across the force, the tasty treats were delivered in style to children who are being supported by the local charity.
A group of around 20 bikers, made up of staff from Nottinghamshire Police and their friends, fired up their motorbikes and dropped the chocolates off at the charity on Sunday 10 April.
Frank Sabin, Nottinghamshire Police facilitites coordinator, has been running the annual charity event for more than 20 years and was among the riders who carried out the choc drop off.
He said: “After we did the drop off at the charity the first time, they asked us when we were going to come back, so we’ve been doing it every year since!
“It feels brilliant to be able to put smiles on the faces of children and to make a difference, however small, just when people need it most.
“We’ve had as many as 60 riders showing up on motorbikes in the past and the kids just love it.
“The children were waiting for us as we arrived, which was wonderful to see.
“I know, having seen the reception we get first-hand, how happy the drop off makes the children, so I’d like to say a big thank you to all the officers and police staff who donated Easter eggs as part of this year’s appeal.”
