Police donate tools to construction course at Nottingham Prison

Nottinghamshire Police have received a thank you from prisoners at Nottingham Prison for a donation of tools which are being used as part of a construction course.

The prisoners have written to the police directly this week to show how the police’s contribution has helped the scheme and the impact it has had on the prisoners themselves.

The force work with a number of partner organisations, making donations of seized items which have been written off for disposal in line with the Police Property Act legislation.

The force have a long relationship working with the HMP Nottingham. This current scheme was setup in July 2018.

Police agreed to donate a range of hand tools to the prison to allow them to run construction courses as part of the rehabilitation of offenders.

Education Manager for HMP Nottingham Tracey Morley said: “I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank Nottinghamshire Police for their continued support with the course.

“This is exactly why we do and love our jobs, changing lives and helping the men do the best they can whilst being here.

“We provide the best education we can for them, which will help change their lives upon release and reduce reoffending.”
