Officers searching for a missing man have confirmed they have found a body.
Police have been searching for Mark Bishop, of Newark, since he was last seen near the River Trent in Newark on 9 January 2023.
A man’s body has now been found in the River Trent, today (Tuesday 14 February) by Nottinghamshire Police’s Underwater Search Unit.
Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Whilst formal identification is still yet to take place, Mr Bishop’s family have been informed of this incredibly sad discovery.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with Mark’s family and everyone who knew him at this sad time.
“I would like to reassure the community that we do not believe what happened to be suspicious but are keen to understand exactly what happened.
“Anyone with any additional information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 365 of 9 January 2023.”
