A suspected burglar has appeared in court after police found a man in a cupboard under the stairs following a break-in.
Officers were called to the home in Farnborough Road, Clifton, Nottingham, at 12.10am on Saturday (14 June) after residents were disturbed by an intruder.
After conducting searches of the property officers located a suspect and arrested him.
Troy Trevethick, aged 51, of no fixed address, has been charged with burglary and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (16 June).
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on 14 July 2025 at Nottingham Crown Court.
Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Officers who attended this break-in should be commended for a rapid response and the arrest of a suspect within the address.
“Detectives have then carried out a thorough investigation which has secured this charge.
“Acquisitive crimes like burglary are a priority for the neighbourhood policing team in Clifton because of the impact these incidents can have on victims.”
