Police find kidnap victim who had been ‘bundled into the boot of a car’ in Clifton

A man was arrested after a house and car were smashed up, with officers then uncovering a kidnapping.

Police were called to an address in Clifton, at around 10.15pm on Thursday 21 April to a report of criminal damage.

Officers arrived to find a living room window smashed at a house.

Damage was also caused to a car parked outside the address.

While at the scene, a kidnapping in which a man was reportedly hit over the back of the head and bundled into the boot of a car was also reported to police.

Following enquiries, the officers located the victim with a black eye, cuts to the head and swelling around his mouth.

Officers then attended another address in Clifton, and arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage and kidnapping.

Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These are very serious offences and officers did well to locate and detain a suspect within an hour of being called to the report of criminal damage.

“Thanks to their swift work, a man who had been kidnapped was safely located and he is now being supported by specialist officers.

“Robust enquiries to uncover all the circumstances are ongoing. However we are satisfied the persons involved are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the local community.

“We are determined to get justice for the victims and I would therefore ask anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 857 of 21 April 2022, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
