Police have closed these Nottinghamshire roads because of flooding


Some roads in Southwell and surrounding areas have been closed overnight.

The following roads have been closed due to heavy rainfall in Nottinghamshire overnight.

Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue dealt with incidents overnight.

Notts Fire said:

‘Fire crews are currently dealing with flooding in Lambley, Arnold, Epperstone Lowdham and Carlton.

‘We are working with our partner agencies at Gedling Borough Council, Nottinghamshire Police, and East Midlands Ambulance Service to keep residents and motorists safe.

PEDESTRIANS – Please avoid flood water in affected areas and never try to walk through it.

MOTORISTS – You should NEVER drive into flood water. Listen to local radio stations for travel updates and plan an alternative route for your journey.

RESIDENTS – If you live in an area affected by flooding, make use of sandbags if available and follow the advice of emergency services and partner agencies on scene.

Closures are for public safety due to the unknown condition of the road.

Inspection and clean up works will be taking place as soon as possible.

Main Street, Lambley

Mansfield Road/Turnpike, Halam

Front Street, Arnold

Landmere Lane, Ruddington – this is closed due to a tree in the road, works are underway to re-open as soon as possible.
