Police incident closes Southwell road

Police have closed Queen Street in Southwell after an attack on a cash machine.

Notts Police say there is debris on the road and damage to the Post Office itself. The road has been closed.

AA Roadwatch reports:

‘Road closed due to police incident on Queen Street both ways between The Ropewalk and Market Place.’

Notts police said:

‘We were called to reports of theft from a cash machine in Queen Street, Southwell at around 5.25am today (Friday 11 January 2019).

It’s believed offenders used a chain saw to get into the property and a gas canister to gain access to the machine before taking the cash from inside.
