Police investigate report of gunshots in a Nottingham park

Officers are investigating after a report of a gun being fired toward a man in a park.

No one was injured in the incident at Kirkstead Street Playground, Hyson Green, at around 6.20pm yesterday (Sunday 11 August) and so far no evidence has been found of a firearm being discharged.

A cordon has been put in place at the Radford Road and Birkin Avenue entrances while officers search the area.

Detective Sergeant Jon Kerry, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident and would encourage anyone who witnessed what happened or may have video footage to come forward as soon as possible.

“Firearms officers were quickly on the scene when the incident was initially reported and there will be an increased uniform presence in the area while the investigation continues. So far we have found no evidence of a firearm being discharged and we will lift the cordon as soon as our enquiries are completed.”
