Police motorbike and motorists’ cars hit by items thrown from an A617 bridge

Police say multiple members of the public reported the incident.

Police in Derbyshire said:

‘A Police motorbike was attending an emergency incident driving along the A617, Pleasley at 15:44 on Sunday 6 March.

‘A group of youths threw objects at the bike with something hitting the officer.

‘We also received multiple calls from members of the public reporting that their vehicles had been damaged by items thrown from the bridge.

‘Shirebrook SNT along with the Roads Policing Unit located the group of youths and all details were taken to start a thorough investigation.

‘This behaviour will not be tolerated, and robust action will be taken. If anyone witnessed anything or has any information such as dash cam footage that will assist our investigation, please get in touch by calling 101 or messaging Derbyshire Constabulary’s Facebook page quoting crime reference number 22000131099.
