A pedestrian who died following a collision in Normanton-on-Soar has been officially named by police as 84-year-old Sidney Armett.
Officers were called to a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist and a pedestrian on the A6006 Rempstone Road at around 11.40 am on Sunday (13 September).
Mr Armett, of Osgathorpe, Loughborough, was pronounced dead at the scene. He leaves behind four daughters.
Police arrested the motorcyclist on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care while over the prescribed limit in connection with the crash.
He was subsequently released under investigation while enquiries continue.
He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Collision Investigator Detective Constable Sarah Stables said: “Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Mr Armett’s family at this difficult time.
“We’re working hard to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident and I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any dash-cam footage that may be helpful to our ongoing investigation to please get in touch as soon as possible.
