Police name woman found dead in Colston Bassett as murder investigation launched

Police have confirmed the name of the victim after a woman was found dead at an address in Colston Basset.

Mother-of-three Clair Ablewhite was found dead after officers were called to the property in Hall Lane, shortly before 6.30pm on Saturday (26 February).

On Sunday 27 February police said:

Officers were called to an address in Hall Lane shortly before 6.30pm on Saturday (26 February 2022).

A woman was found dead inside the property. The road is closed and a cordon is in place while investigations continue at the scene.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the investigation this morning (Sunday 27 February) as detectives continue to work to understand the circumstances.

Detective Inspector Mel Crutchley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts are with this woman’s family and friends. We have a team of detectives who are working hard to establish the circumstances and our enquiries are ongoing.”
