Police officer in court on two drink-driving charges

A police constable is due in court today charged with two counts of drink driving.

PC Jakub Lewandowski, aged 23, of Wood Street in Ilkeston, was off duty when he was stopped by officers at 4.12am on Sunday 31 August in Wollaton Road, Nottingham.

He was breathalysed and blew 90 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

He was arrested and charged. He was suspended from Nottinghamshire Police and bailed ahead of an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

Shortly before 1.30am this morning (Friday 19 September), the suspended officer was stopped by Derbyshire Police officers in Tunnicliffe Close, Ilkeston.

He was breathalysed and blew 99 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. He was taken into custody and again charged with drink driving.

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (Friday 19 September).
