A driver reportedly lost control of a car and crashed, leaving an officer injured.
The car is said to have slid as it was being driven along Babworth Road, Retford and hit two cars, including a marked police car, before going into the central reservation.
An officer continues to be monitored and receive hospital treatment for his injuries, but these are not thought to be life-threatening or altering.
Another officer and the driver of the second car which was hit were reported to be shaken, but uninjured.
The road was closed at its junction with Sutton Lane and Straight Mile whilst emergency services attended and worked to resolve the incident, which happened just after 3.50pm on Saturday (2 October 2021).
It remained closed for the afternoon but reopened at around 10pm that evening.
A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He has been released under investigation.
Chief Inspector Chris Sullivan, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “An officer is currently at hospital following the incident and we continue to be in contact with him and support him through this. Another officer and member of the public were thankfully uninjured but we understand the impact such an experience can have, and we continue to make enquiries and establish the circumstances around what happened.
“We made an arrest and our investigation is ongoing and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 460 of 2 October 2021.”
