Meanwhile, the first World Cup games are on Friday 31 May 2019, with England facing Pakistan again on Monday 3 June 2019. The games start at 10.30am and five fixtures are:

  • West Indies v Pakistan – Friday 31 May 2019
  • England v Pakistan – Monday 3 June 2019
  • Australia v West Indies – Thursday 6 June 2019
  • India v New Zealand – Thursday 13 June 2019
  • Australia v Bangladesh – Thursday 20 June 2019

Nottingham and particularly West Bridgford is expected to be very busy on match days, and police advise getting to Trent Bridge early if you are attending.

The city is also hosting a fan zone at the Old Market Square, so fans can watch games and partake in a number of cricket-related activities.

Superintendent Steve Cartwright said: “It’s a very exciting time for the city and for the Nottinghamshire cricket fans. To have so many high profile games at Trent Bridge is fantastic for the local area and the county.

“There is a fan zone in the city centre, so there will be a fantastic atmosphere not just in the ground, but around the city. We hope that the thousands of spectators who are coming to Nottingham from around the world have a fantastic time.

“Of course, we will have officers in and around Trent Bridge to support the organisers in providing a safe and secure event, so please do say hello to my officers and if you need any questions answering please do feel free to stop our officers and they will be happy to help.

“We hope you all have a fantastic, enjoyable and safe time in Nottingham as we celebrate the Cricket World Cup.”
