Police raid finds drugs and ‘colossal’ amount of fake goods in Nottingham industrial unit

A unit packed full of drugs and counterfeit goods was shut down following a police raid.

Officers executed a warrant at an industrial unit based in Old Basford on Monday (20 April) morning.

The Vernon Road site was visited by police after they heard it could be involved in wrongdoing.

These suspicions were confirmed when various forms of criminal property were discovered.
The industrial unit was initially found to contain large quantities of cannabis throughout.

Further searches led to even more evidence of criminality being found.

This came after huge amounts of counterfeit goods – ranging from illegal tobacco to clothing and perfume – were recovered.

Officers from the City West neighbourhood policing team and the Tactical Support Group were involved in executing the warrant.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and conspiring to distribute goods bearing false trademarks.

Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“A warrant was executed at this location following suggestions it could be involved in criminality.

“Thanks to the efforts of the different policing teams involved, we were able to make a variety of discoveries and shut down a drugs factory.

“Large quantities of cannabis were found, while a colossal quantity of counterfeit goods was also seized.

“We were also able to arrest a suspect in connection with the offences, so this proved to be a great result overall.”
