Police raid on suspected drug dealers home recovers cash, weapons and drugs

Drugs, weapons and cash were seized as officers bashed down a door into suspected drug dealer’s home – stopping him in his tracks.

Acting on intelligence around drugs activity, the city west Operation Reacher team stormed into a property in Eltham Close, Aspley, yesterday (18 January) to try and catch a suspected drug dealer.

On closer inspection of the house, officers found suspected class A drugs scattered across kitchen worksurfaces, a sheathed hunter-style knife lying on top of a work surface and further class B drugs inside plastic bags in a chest of drawers upstairs.

A suspected imitation firearm was also found poking out from underneath shoe boxes and books inside one of the bedrooms.

Deal bags, scales and mobile phones were also found within the address.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and theft of a motor vehicle.

He has since been released under investigation, as enquiries continue.

Sergeant Croft, who leads the city west Operation Reacher team, said: “This was a really positive find for the team and thanks to the intelligence we received we were able to arrest a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

“As we continued our search we were also able to arrest a man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle after successfully finding a stolen motorbike at the property.

“Drugs activity while illegal in its own right can also often lead to wider serious organised criminality putting people within the community and surrounding areas at risk.

“By reporting suspicions about drug dealing, residents can make their own neighbourhoods safer as we can take action.

“Our officers are committed to uncovering and intercepting this type of crime and that is why we take such robust action when we receive any information given to us.

“Local officers and dedicated teams like Operation Reacher are here to act on community information and intercept and take criminals off our streets.

“Those who believe they can break the law, carry any sort of firearm or imitation firearm and drugs should expect to be brought to justice as we will always endeavour to act on any intelligence given to us to help keep communities safe from those who believe they are above the law.

“We would continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about criminal activity in their area to get in touch with the police on 101.”
